I can't find my downloaded Kindle books on my Kindle device. Where are they?
For OverDrive's Kindle e-books that transfer via Wi-Fi:
Please Note: This answer addresses procedures for locating e-books on Kindle e-readers, not Kindle Fire tablets.
These titles download via a local WiFi network, not via Amazon's 3G wireless network. If your Kindle is not connected to a Wi-Fi network, your borrowed titles appear in the Archived Items. Once you sync your Kindle to a Wi-Fi network, the books will download and appear on the Kindle Home screen.
To connect to WiFi:
- Press the Home button, then press the Menu button.
- Use the 5-way controller to select "Settings."
- Select "View" next to "Wi-Fi Settings" to display a list of detected networks.
- Choose "connect" next to the Wi-Fi network to which you want to connect. If necessary, enter the Wi-Fi network password. Press the Previous Page and Next Page buttons to navigate to the symbol keyboard and uppercase letter menus to enter any special characters or uppercase letters in your password.
Tip: Reading with wireless turned off will help your battery last longer. Press the Menu button for the option to turn wireless on or off.
For OverDrive's Kindle e-books requiring USB transfer:
If you can't find your downloaded Kindle book on the Kindle's home screen, look for it in the Archived Items. From the Archive, you'll be offered the choice to move the book to the Home screen.
