Do the libraries have high school yearbooks for county schools? How do I locate a particular book?
Unfortunately, Montgomery County Public Libraries do not hold any high school yearbooks; they are kept at the Montgomery County Public Schools Central Records Office. Their address is:
Central Records, Concord Center
7210 Hidden Creek Road
Bethesda, MD 20817
301-320-7305 (fax) Hours: 7 am - 3:30 pm M - F
Researchers must have an appointment. Among the holdings are old high school yearbooks, school board meeting minutes, papers from closed schools. Transcripts for students are held at schools for five years and then moved to Central Records, but a signed release from the individual is required.
At one time, a collection of yearbooks was kept by the County Cupboard Tea Room; however, the collection has been purchased by a new owner who is making it available to the public by request. According to the owner, "...for the present time that will have to be limited to Web site requests for scanned images." See this weblink: http://www.itsallaboutfamily.com/
