How can I tell if the libraries are closed due to bad weather? Do the libraries close whenever the public schools are closed?

Answer

The Montgomery County Public Libraries are open regularly scheduled hours during inclement weather unless general closings are announced for Montgomery County Government offices. We are often open despite school closings.

Call 240-777-6500 for up-to-date recorded announcements about weather-related closings. We also post information about branch closings due to weather or facility issues on our home page.

Please check our online calendar for information about the status of scheduled library programs in bad weather.  Or call individual branches with question about programs or the condition of parking lots or sidewalks.
